Residents advised to beware of fraudulent emails

News Flash - Home Posted on December 09, 2025 | Last Updated on January 09, 2026

Moorestown Township is aware of a fraudulent email purporting to be sent on behalf of the township claiming to come from the township's Planning and Zoning Department. The township does not request payments via wire transfer. Because these invoices contain accurate details, they may appear legitimate, especially for applicants who may not be familiar with municipal processes. Residents are advised to verify that any email coming from the township ends in @moorestown.nj.us.

If you are unsure of the authenticity of a message from the township:

  • Do not reply to the message
  • Do not open the attachments or click any links
  • Do not send money
  • Contact the township before taking any action at (856)235-0912
  • Report the incident to the Moorestown Township Police Department

Scammers often impersonate local governments to appear legitimate. You can protect yourself by looking out for the following:

  • Verify sender email addresses carefully
  • Look for spelling errors or unfamiliar tone/language
  • Never trust urgent payment or verification requests by email
