The Township of Moorestown is establishing a new advisory body to help guide environmental protection, conservation planning, and open space preservation efforts throughout the community.
The new Open Space Conservation and Environmental Stewardship Committee will combine the work of the former Environmental Advisory Committee and Open Space Advisory Committee into one coordinated group. The committee will advise Township Council, boards, and staff on environmental issues, natural resource protection, land conservation, and open space acquisition and stewardship.
Members will help promote conservation initiatives, support public education on environmental topics, maintain inventories of natural resources, and provide input on planning efforts, including the Township’s Master Plan and Environmental Resources Inventory. The committee will also coordinate with Save the Environment of Moorestown to support broader environmental education and advocacy efforts.
Residents with an interest in environmental protection, sustainability, land preservation, or community planning are strongly encouraged to apply. This is a great opportunity to help shape Moorestown’s environmental future, collaborate with fellow residents and community partners, and make a meaningful local impact.
Ordinance 5-2026 is scheduled for public hearing and adoption on February 23, 2026. This ordinance creates a new advisory committee and Council is searching for members to serve.
