1. Are you able to hold on to our check for a few days?

No, we are not able to hold checks. All payments must be receipted on the day for which they are received. All payments are posted to the proper accounts the day they are received.

2. Can I have a receipt?

If you bring or mail in your entire bill, we would be happy to receipt the back of your tax bill. If you do not send in a bill, your check will be your receipt.

3. Can we pay water/sewer and taxes on the same check?

No, taxes and utilities must be separate checks.

4. Do you accept postmarks?

No, payments must be submitted on or before the 10th day grace period.

5. Do you receive a bill for each quarter as it becomes due?

No, bills are not mailed per quarter. Bills are mailed in the summer and you must obtain them for
payment when they are due.

6. What deductions are available?

Veterans, senior citizen and disabled persons can apply for a yearly deduction of $250 from their tax bill. Applications can be acquired through the Township Assessor. Find out more about tax collection and available deductions at our Tax Collection page. 

7. What is the tax rate?

In 2021, the tax rate in Fire District 1 was 2.687. The tax rate in Fire District 2 was 2.724. Find out more about Tax Collection at our Tax Collection page. 

8. When are real estate property taxes due?

Property taxes are due on the following schedule:

1st Quarter - Due February 1


2nd Quarter - Due May 1

3rd Quarter - Due August 1

4th Quarter - Due November 1

9. When are tax bills mailed?

The 3rd quarter estimated are mailed in the summer and are due August 1. The remaining final tax billing showing the 4th, 1st and 2nd quarters are mailed once the county certifies the current tax rate.

10. When do real estate property taxes become delinquent?

Payments received within a 10-day grace period are permitted without penalty. However, if the 10th falls on a weekend or a holiday when the offices are closed, you have until the next business day.
