Join us Saturday, Veterans Day 11/11 for the rededication of Private Armydis Sordon Park! Armydis Sordon Park (formerly Beech Street Park) is a designated Green Acres Park located at the corner of Beech St. and Mill St. It contains a swing set, playground unit with slides, two picnic tables, and one bench. This park is dedicated to Armydis Sordon, Private, U.S. Army, 541st Engineer Regiment whose home was located where this park now stands and who died while serving in World War 1.
The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Veterans Day (Saturday, Nov. 11) at Armydis Sordon Park (formerly Beech Street Park), which is located at the corner of Beech and Mill Streets.
Armydis Sordon was a young African American soldier who died in France while serving in World War I. He lived with his family on Beech Street. To commemorate his service, Moorestown has renamed "Beech Street Park" to "Armydis Sordon Park."
Join the Moorestown Better Together Advisory Committee and Township Officials to celebrate the dedication of the park, and the service of all veterans.
