[ARCHIVED] Parks and Rec. launching Tai Chi classes

Tai Chi is one of China’s traditional martial arts. Long ago, it was designed as a unique and profound self-defense technique. Concentrating on correct posture and breathing control, Tai Chi’s movements are fluid, graceful and well balanced, promoting the complete harmony of body and mind. Tai Chi provides the mental relaxation and physical fitness so essential in our modern stress-filled lives.

Ages:  

Adults, 18 years & older

Dates/Times:   

Tuesday’s – 10:30-11:30 am

January 11, 18, 25  February 1, 8, 15, 22  March 1

Fee:  $96.00

Location:  Church Street Recreation Center, 3rd Floor

Class Format:

Tai Chi Basic Skills and the Simplified 18 Steps Chen Style Tai Chi Quan will be offered.

Instructor:

Wenrong Zou Atkins has been practicing Tai Chi for many years. She has trained under the tutelage of Wang Lijuan, Han Junsheng, Shen Chao and Zhi Ning.  She has participated in many large-scale Tai Chi demonstrations and has been recognized with the following awards:

  • Gold medals at the 2016 US Open Martial Arts Championship
  • Second place at the 2016 Hong Kong International Wushu Championships – Tai Chi Quan and Tai Chi sword
  • Second place in 2015 Macao International Wushu competition – Tai Chi Quan and Tai Chi saber
