It's draining, at times, trying to figure out how we can help keep our local environment clean. But Sustainable Moorestown has a simple way for residents to help out.
Adopt a drain in your neighborhood! Storm drains flow directly to local lakes, rivers and wetlands, acting as a conduit for trash and organic pollutants. Please adopt a storm drain near your home and keep it clear of leaves, trash and other debris to reduce water pollution.
Sweep leaves, trash and other debris off the drain surface. You might want a broom, rake, trash grabber, gloves, cone/safety vest, snow shovel, dustpan or a pail as you're cleaning up. Please use caution and watch for traffic.
Get involved! We ask that you email in a photo for a chance to get featured on the township's social media. Send your photo or short video to Kelly Flynn at kflynn@moorestown.nj.us, and let us know where you're helping to keep the water draining. And while you're at it, tell us what you love about your block or the location you're keeping clear and why you want to keep that area clean and clear. The "Adopt-a-Drain Campaign" will run through November 15, and the resident who submits the best photo/video of their work will receive a prize from Sustainable Moorestown.
