[ARCHIVED] Residents reminded not keep Strawbridge Lake clear

Resident James Reilley pulled a massive amount of fishing line from Strawbridge Lake.

The Strawbridge Lake Beautification Committee is asking everyone to please be aware of the dangers of discarding fishing line and other trash or debris at Strawbridge Lake. Recently, resident James Reilley pulled a massive amount of fishing line from an area near the Kings Highway bridge (pictured). Two Blue Herons frequently fish at this location and are at risk of becoming entangled and suffering injury or death.

Hooks and other fishing tackle also pose a threat to  wildlife at the lake. Many come to the lake to enjoy recreational fishing, and everyone must do their part in preserving wildlife and nature at the lake. Please remember to properly dispose of fishing line and tackle as well as refuse and trash in general while visiting the lake.

Moorestown Township declared 2022 as “The Year of the Environment” – let’s all do our part not only this year, but for all years to come so that everyone can enjoy the beauty and nature of Strawbridge Lake today and for future generations! For information and details about recycling and proper disposal of fishing line, please visit https://www.savecoastalwildlife.org/managing-fishing-line-waste.
