Spring Hydrant Flushing

The Public Works Department will be flushing fire hydrants between the hours of 10 PM and 2 AM beginning the first week of April and continuing for two to three weeks.

Hydrant flushing is recognized as a best practice in water systems throughout the country. It flushes/cleans the water mains and removes common sediments. Some discoloration of water and/or low water pressure may occur during flushing which is why the procedure is conducted between 10 PM and 2 AM -- when folks are least likely to be inconvenienced. You are less likely to experience discoloration if you refrain from using your water during these hours. If you do notice discoloration, it should clear up after running water briefly.

If you have any questions, or if your water is discolored and not clearing up in a reasonable period of time, please call Public Works at

856-235-3520 between 8 AM and 4 PM or call the

Water Treatment Plant at 856-235-0550 on weekdays between 4 PM and 8 AM and on weekends.

We appreciate your patience with, and understanding of, hydrant flushing to ensure our water system is run according to best practices.
