    2010 SPRING/SUMMER ACTIVITIES BOOKLET
    The Department of Parks and Recreation announces its Spring and Summer Programming for 2010.

    Activities include spring activities, courses, and sports, as well as information for the Summer Parks, Summer Theater, and Summer Special Needs Programs (registration begins May 10th).

    Registration may be done by completing the registration form in the back of the booklet or by downloading your confirmation notice and mailing or stopping by the Department of Parks and Recreation Office.

    Separate checks from the other programs should be made for the Summer Parks, Summer Theater, and Swim Clinics.

    TUMBLIN' TOTS - Spring 2010
    The spring session of Tumblin' Tots will be sponsored by the Moorestown Department of Parks and Recreation on Thursday mornings for eight weeks from April 15th through June 3rd;

    Ages 18 mos. to 30 mos.- 9:30 AM
    Ages 2 1/2 to 4 - 10:30 AM
    (Birth Certificate Required and a parent or guardian must stay with children during the program)


    The program is held at the Church Street Recreation Center, 111 W. Second Street, and the fee is $65.00 for residents and $75.00 for non-residents.

    SPRING ARTS AND CRAFTS
    The Department of Parks and Recreation will sponsor a Spring Arts and Crafts Program for children in grades K through 4 at the New Albany Road Recreation Center on Saturday mornings. Grades K and 1 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM and Grades 2 through 4 from 11:00AM to 12:00 Noon.

    SPECIAL NEEDS HORSEBACK AT MAJODA-Spring2010
    The Department of Parks and Recreation will sponsor Horseback Riding for individual with special needs at Majoda Stables on Monday afternoons from 4:00-6:00 PM.

    The cost is $35.00 per two-hour session and will be available on March 29, April, 12, April 26, May 10, May 24, and June 7.

    INTERMEDIATE VOLLEYBALL CLINIC - Spring 2010
    The Department of Parks and Recreation will sponsor an Intermediate Volleyball Clinic for students in grades 6 through 8 on Sunday evenings at the Moorestown High School Athletic Center from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.

    The program will run from April 18th through May 23rd and will cost $30.00 (payable to the Township of Moorestown).

    MEN'S OPEN BASKETBALL
    Open Men's Basketball for ages 30 and over will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the Church Street Recreation Center beginning March 10.

    Two eight week sessions are planned, and the cost is $10.00 per session for Moorestown Residents, and $20.00 per session for non-residents.

    SPECIAL NEEDS BASKETBALL CLINIC - 2010
    Hip Hop and the Hare Raisers from the Philadelphia 76ers will join the Department of Parks and Recreation and SNAC in a family support outing at the Church Street Recreation Center on Sunday March 21st from 2:00 to 4:30 PM.

    Individuals with special needs and their siblings and friends will interact with Hip Hop while doing basketball skills and drills. Hot dogs and snacks will available afterwards.

    Cost: $3.00 per person or $10.00 per family.

    CARDIO PULMONARY RESUSCITATION/AED
    The Department of Parks will offer Cardio Pulmonary Resusciation Courses for coaches, parents, babusitter, teachers, and other who work with children and adults (HEARTSAVER). Course dates (need only attend one) are 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, and 3/23.

    Additionally, a class has been added to the program that is specifically for those who need certification in the health care field (HEALTH CARE PROVIDER). The date for this course is March 30.

    All courses will be held at the New Albany Road Recreation Center on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, and will be taught by Marie Stavros, RN.

    The fee is $25.00 (non-residents $35) payable to the Township of Moorestown.

    Registration (until course maximum is reached) can be done through the mail or drop-in at 2 Executive Drive, Suite 9A, Moorestown, NJ 08057.

    GIRLS 5TH/6TH GRADE LACROSSE PROGRAM
    Registration is now underway for the Girls' Spring 5th and 6th Grade Lacrosse Program that begins on Wednesday, March 10th. The recreationsl league is not available to travel palyers.

    Girls will be playing in an official South Jersey League so that they may participate in games. This will require some travel to local towns on Sunday afternoons.

    The cost is $50.00, and early registration is suggested, as space is limited due to maximum participation procedures.

    REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Wednesday, February 24th at 4:30 PM.

    The Department of Parks and Recreation sponsors programs for children and adults throughout the year, including sports leagues (basketball, bowling, soccer, volleyball, field hockey, girls' lacrosse); senior citizen programs; lessons and clinics (tennis, arts and crafts, volleyball, basketball, golf, ballet, and others). Registration forms (listed under 'PROGRAMS') can be downloaded, printed, and mailed in to 111 W. Second Street to avoid office visitation.
    The department also sponsors a Summer Theater Program, in which young people aged 7 to 17 produce and perform a musical play for the community. In addition, it operates over 200 acres of parks, nature areas, bikeways and recreational complexes (see recreation facility listing for map and descriptions).
    MISSION: Through a variety of programs, leisure activities, and park enhancements, the recreation department seeks to promote a healthy, more active and creative way of life for all members of the community. Through fun, fair play, low key activities, and healthy competition, the Department seeks to provide an atmosphere of cameraderie and a growing sense of self for all of Moorestown's citizenry.
