7/25/2012 - Township Alert Systems to Keep Residents Informed

Township Alert Systems

In the interest of keeping our residents informed in times of critical incident e.g..:  police/fire/medical emergency, the Township has available three programs for promptly notifying residents.  I would like to bring these programs to your attention.

One program that we have is an email alert system that works in conjunction with the Township website.  A resident subscribing to this feature, by going to the “Newsletter Sign Up” tab on the right side of the Township home page, will receive an email alert when an emergency announcement is placed on the Township website.  Directions on how to subscribe are located on the township website at www.moorestown.nj.us

Most importantly, the Township has two programs to alert residents in times of emergency.  The “REVERSE 911” community notification system can direct emergency messages to specific areas or the entire Township via telephone landline with a telephone message from Moorestown Emergency Services alerting residents of an emergency and directing steps to take.  This system will only pick up landline numbers listed through VERIZON.  We would like to obtain a direct emergency number for residents (that may be outside the Township) that a message would be directed to.  We would also like to obtain cellular and VOIP numbers from any residents that do not have VERIZON landline service so that they can be notified as well.

Nixle is a public alerting system that is utilized to text emergency and community interest messages to our residents.  You can sign up for this free service at www.nixle.com.

As these are potentially lifesaving programs time is of the essence, so we request your prompt attention in obtaining and providing the information requested.  Should you have any questions about any of the programs, please feel free to contact DSgt. Lee Lieber at 856-914-3041 or llieber@moorestown.nj.us.
