As the result of resident and employee input over the past year, significant changes have been made to the Township's phone system auto attendant.
The main greeting has been re-recorded to shorten the length of the greeting and provide more precise information. All auto attendant sub menus for individual departments have been replaced with the computerized voice auto attendant option rather than being recorded by a live person. This change will allow menu changes to be made to department auto attendants without having to re-record menu options. The speech recognition system was removed, as the system was too sensitive to background noise and would frequently cut off user input; only touch tone input is now accepted. Departments announced on the department list option have been reordered to reflect options most frequently chosen by callers, to reduce the amount of time that callers will have to wait to hear the most frequently requested services.
The most significant change to the system is the direct extension dial option; as a result of the above changes, callers will now have to press the # key and then dial the extension, instead of simply dialing the extension directly.
We hope that these improvements will better serve the community and allow residents to access Government service information much more effectively and efficiently.
