BASKETBALL LEAGUE - WINTER - Boys High School


Games will be played between 11:00AM and 5:00PM on Sunday afternoons. Players wishing to practice informally may attend an open basketball night to be determined.

: Team assignments will be emailed by January 12, 2018.

: Games will begin on Sunday, January 14th, through March 11th at the Church Street Rec Center.

BOWLING - ULTIMATE CHOICE ADULT MIXED LEAGUE


The Moorestown Department of Parks and Recreation will run a MIXED BOWLING LEAGUE at Laurel Lanes bowling alley for 8 weeks.  The League is a Mixed Handicap League, and you may either enter your own team or enter as an individual to fill existing vacancies. Teams shall consist of a combination of men and women (must have at least one member of the opposite gender, high school age and above).

DATES

: Wednesdays, January 3 through February 21, 2018.

TIME

: 6:30 PM,

FEE

: $13.50 per person or $54.00 per 4 person team/per week, plus a $20 team registration fee paid to the Moorestown Recreation Department.

COOKING - FOOD FOR LIVING - Creating Daily Meals


Chef Katie and a local physician have teamed up to offer this 4 week inspirational healthy cooking class.  They are both dedicated to educating the public about the importance of whole nutritious foods that taste great!  Learn how to make balanced and delicious meals for the whole family.  Students will prepare and taste meals in class with plenty to take home.  
Week 1: Start your day off right.  Breakfast foods; egg strata, healthy omelets, sweet potato bake
Week 2 & 3: Travel around the globe in two weeks. Explore international flavors and techniques for family dinners
Week 4: Everyone loves dessert! Wholesome dessert recipes like butternut custard

AGES:

 16 and up.

 Chef Instructor - Katie Sklarow. Chef Katie has been cooking and teaching professionally for over 7 years. She worked her way up through local restaurants and graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Culinary Management from the Art Institute of Philadelphia. She loves working with local and sustainable ingredients and sharing her passion with others.


COOKING - FOOD FOR LIVING - Basic Intro to:

Week 1: Winter Chili - prepare a flavorful vegetable chili.  Learn the health benefits of spices.
Week 2: Pulled pork carnitas in lettuce wraps with guacamole and fresh vegetables.  Vegetarian option available.

VOLLEYBALL CLINIC - HIGH SCHOOL AGE - All Skill Levels Welcome


The clinic will be held on Friday evenings at the William Allen Middle School, Stanwick Road. The clinic will stress fundamentals including passing, serving, setting, and hitting to allow players to compete at a high school level of play.

: Chris Rizzo.  Chris has been a volleyball coach and player for over a decade.  He has taught at the high school and club levels and has taken his coaching from indoor to outdoor grass/sand volleyball.  He has a passion for making volleyball fun and working on basic skills as well as high impact/repetition skill improvement.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
CIT Program (Counselor In Training) - contact Mary Stefano at mstefano@moorestown.nj.us.

Applications will be available starting January 3, 2018 on the Parks & Recreation website for youth 13 to 16 years old and must be submitted by March 9, 2018. A completed application does NOT guarantee employment. Once an application is received, it will be reviewed, an interview scheduled, and then a decision will be made. Interviews will be conducted through April 20th. Once an applicant is offered a position they may formally register for the program. Registration for the CIT program will be $75.00. CITs will be required to be present for all weeks of their respective camps, with a maximum of 5 consecutive days off for a vacation.

CIT PROGRAM: 2018 Updates


​Following the success and growth of the Moorestown Recreation CIT (Counselor In Training) Program (started in 2008), The Department of Parks & Recreation is expanding this program in 2018. The parameters of the program are as follows:

  • Counselors In Training will be ages 13-16 years old. 13 year old CITs will be eligible to volunteer in the Four is Fun, Five is       Fun-ner, Art Camp, Sports Camps and Sports Clinic, but not eligible for the Summer Park and Theater Programs. 
  • Applications will be accepted in the Rec Center Office January 3rd - March 9th.
  • Interviews will be conducted through April 20th. 
  • Registration for the CIT Program will be $75 and if selected must be received by May 11th.
  • Applicants can “request” placement in certain programs, however, no guarantee is made regarding placement.
  • There will be a CIT “Sub List” for Department Use only – this list will be made up of “wait-listed” candidates who will be used to                    substitute for any CITs who utilize their one week of vacation. CITs may not “call in” subs. 
  • CITs will be required to be present for all weeks of their respective camp with a maximum of one consecutive week off for vacation purposes. 
  • If a CIT is absent without notice for any reason (other than illness which will require a doctor’s note) they will be terminated from the program. 
  • CITs will also be provided an exit-interview & confirmation of hours letter,  be provided a letter of reference and a copy of their review upon request (assuming completion of program) and be given necessary signatures and documentation for Service Hours forms.
