BASKETBALL - SHOOTING SKILLS AND GAMES (November/December)


Shooting is one of the most important skills in the game of basketball.  From layups to free-throws, the children will work specifically on getting the ball into the hoop. After the shooting drills, the players will be separated into teams, giving them a chance to practice the skills in an actual scrimmage game.

BASKETBALL - 3 V 3 TURKEY TOURNAMENT
The Moorestown Recreation Department and the Moorestown Youth Basketball Club are proud to host our second annual 3 v 3 Turkey Tournament.  Teams will be guaranteed 3 games.

BASKETBALL CLINIC - WINTER - Grade 1 (Girls and Boys)


The fundamental skills of basketball including dribbling, passing, as well as rebounding and shooting techniques will be emphasized. The program is not a league, though informal scrimmages may be arranged in a teaching situation.

BASKETBALL LEAGUE - WINTER - Grade 2 (Girls and Boys play separately)


Games will be played on lowered baskets at the Upper Elementary School between 8:30 am and 6:00 PM for 1 1/2 hours on Saturdays from January 12 to March 9, 2019. There are no weekday practices. Teams will have a clinic run by Ted Flick for the first 30 minutes prior to league game each Saturday officiated by Ted and his instructors.
Team Assignments- Assignments will be emailed by January 4th. Team placement requests are not guaranteed.

BOYS - 3rd and 4th Grade will play Saturdays between 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM. Grades 5-8 will play Saturdays between 8:30 AM and 7:30 PM based on number of teams.
GIRLS - Grade 3 will play Saturdays between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM. Grades 4-8 will play Saturdays between 9:00 AM and 7:30 PM based on number of teams

BAKING - PIES FOR THANKSGIVING


This one day class will teach your children how to make pies from beginning to end.  They will go home with two pies for the Thanksgiving Holiday.  Pie dough will be made from scratch as well as the pie filling.  The children will each go home with a pumpkin pie and an apple-cinnamon pie. Pantry items have been generously donated by Wegmans.

BAKING - HOLIDAY COOKIES (Grades 2-5 and Grades 4-8)


This 3 hour workshop one day workshop will cover the basics of holiday baking including measurements, ratios, and proportions. Children will be given hands-on instructions for making cookie favorites. Food prepared will be available to take home and enjoy afterwards.  Pantry items generously donated by Wegmans.

The first class will involve making the gingerbread from scratch and baking the parts of the house.  The second day will include construction and decoration of each participant's house.  Pantry items have been generously donated by Wegmans.

BAKING - CANNOLI- December 28


This one day course will cover the making of cannoli shells and filling from scratch.  The shell is mixed, rolled and fried to a crispy brown.  Then the filling is prepared with fresh ricotta cheese and cream.  Children will return home with yummy desserts to share with their families.  Pantry items generously donated by Wegmans.

NEW YEAR'S TREATS - December 31


New Year's Dessert Tray.  Chef Katie will lead the children in producing a delicious tray of New Year's Eve desserts; mini cheese cakes and cream puffs.  Students will go home with a tray of desserts to share on New Year's Eve.  All recipes are from scratch.  Pantry items generously donated by Wegmans.

CULINARY - HOLIDAY (December)


Holiday comfort foods at their best.  The first class will feature the classic casserole - Lasagna with its many layers of ricotta cheese, pasta, cheese and meat filling.  The meal will be completed with a Caesar Salad made from scratch (including the dressing).  The second class will be linguini with meat balls.  The participants will make the pasta from scratch and then blend the perfect baked meatball. Pantry items generously donated by Wegmans.

CULINARY - CHICKEN STRIPS AND ROLLS - December 27


Chef Katie will prepare with the children the perfect meal, complete with vegetables! The main course is oven baked chicken strips with dipping sauces.  With the chicken strips the children will prepare from scratch yeast rolls and oven roasted broccoli.  All recipes use quality sustainable ingredients and prepared completely from scratch.  Children will return home with food to share with their families.  Pantry items have been generously donated by Wegmans.

Class includes fun songs and activities for gross motor development.  Various props are utilized such as crowns, wands, parachutes, bean bags, ribbons and more.  An introduction to pre-ballet, jazz and tap is presented.  Focus is on listening, following directions, rhythm, musicality, movement and fun.

DANCE: CREATIVE DANCE - "MOMMY AND ME" (Ages 24-36 months) - WINTER SESSION


Our Mommy and Me class gives parents and children an opportunity to bond through dance, song, and creative movement.  Children will receive an introduction to dance with stretching exercises, imagination and creative play with the use of sensory props improving gross motor skills.  This class also offers young children their first look in a classroom setting, improving social interaction.

VOLLEYBALL CLINIC - WINTER (Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-8)


The clinics will be held on Friday evenings (5:30-7:00) at the Church Street Recreation Center beginning Friday, January 4th through March 8th (no class 1/18, 2/15). The clinics will stress fundamentals of play through instruction and drills. No previous experience is necessary. Girls and boys will learn techniques for passing, serving, setting, and basic hitting. Volleyballs will be provided for use during the clinics.

John Grossman.  John has 17 years coaching experience with players from ages 8-18.  He currently coaches a HS team in PA and is the technical director for the Cherry Hill Volleyball Club where he also head coaches 2 teams.  Beyond coaching, John played professionally indoors and outdoors for 10+ years.  He subscribes to USA volleyball best practices and volunteers with the USA Volleyball Olympic Team.
