BASKETBALL - PRESEASON WARM UP (October/November)


The clinic will be held on Thursdays. The fundamental skills of basketball including dribbling and passing as well as rebounding and shooting techniques will be emphasized. Instructional full court scrimmages will be organized.

BASKETBALL - SHOOTING SKILLS AND GAMES (November/December)


Shooting is one of the most important skills in the game of baskeball.  From layups to free-throws, the children will work specifically on getting the ball into the hoop. After the shooting drills, the players will be separated into teams, giving them a chance to practice the skills in an actual scrimmage game.

BASKETBALL - 3 V 3 TURKEY TOURNAMENT
The Moorestown Recreation Department and the Moorestown Youth Basketball Club are proud to host our second annual 3 v 3 Turkey Tounament.  Teams will be guaranteed 3 games.  
GRADES: 4-8.

BAKING BASICS AND MORE - FALL
This four week course will cover the basics of baking and expand on prior baking knowledge. Children, through hands on learning, will fine tune their measurements, ratios and proportions and be given more challenging recipes. Recipes include cookies, cupcakes, scones, pretzels and pie. Food prepared in class can be taken home and enjoyed!! Pantry items have been generously donated by Wegmans.

BAKING - HALLOWEEN TREATS - October 19
Chef Katie is preparing with the children two Halloween treat favorites...Cake Pops will be prepared from scratch and perfectly frosted along with frosted Halloween Rice Krispie treats.  This 3 hour workshop will cover the basics of party baking including measrurements, ratios and proportions.  Pantry items have been generously donated by Wegmans.

This two week special autumn baking class is for those children who love the taste of fall spiced baking.  Children will explore autumn spice with fall fruit and vegetable ingredients; Pumpkin Cheese Cake, Ginger Snap Cookies, and Apple Spice Muffins.  Pantry items have been generously donated by Wegmans.

BAKING - HOMEMADE IS THE BEST WAY - Thanksgiving Gifts for the Table


What is better than homemade presents?  Chef Katie will lead the children in crafting gifts for the Thanksgiving Table.  Homemade cranberry sauce spiced with orange and fresh thyme.  Katie will also teach the children how to make fall scented candles and dried herb bundles.  The children will return home with 6 gifts ready to share and enjoy.  All recipes are from scratch.  Pantry items have been generously donated by Wegmans.

BAKING - PIES FOR THANKSGIVING


This one day class will teach your children how to make pies from beginning to end.  They will go home with two pies for the Thanksgiving Holiday.  Pie dough will be made from scratch as well as the pie filling.  The children will each go home with a pumpkin pie and an apple-cinnamon pie. Pantry items have been generously donated by Wegmans.

CULINARY - SUSHI MAKING (Grades 5-10)


Chef Katie will teach traditional Japanese techniques and flavor profiles for the perfect sushi making.  Students will make shrimp tempura with mango and avocado rolls, sweet potato tempura with cucumber and scallions rolls and veggie fried rice.  All recipes are from scratch. DANCE: CREATIVE DANCE LESSONS, (Ages 3-4)


Class includes fun songs and activities for gross motor development.  Various props are utilized such as crowns, wands, parachutes, bean bags, ribbons and more.  An introduction to pre-ballet, jazz and tap is presented.  Focus is on listening, following directions, rhythm, musicality, movement and fun.

DANCE: CREATIVE DANCE - "MOMMY AND ME" (Ages 24-36 months)


Our Mommy and Me class gives parents and children an opportunity to bond through dance, song, and creative movement.  Children will receive an introduction to dance with stretching exercises, imagination and creative play with the use of sensory props improving gross motor skills.  This class also offers young children their first look in a classroom setting, improving social interaction.

FIELD HOCKEY - GRADES 1 to 4; IN TOWN PROGRAM


The Department of Parks and Recreation will sponsor Field Hockey Leagues for residents or girls attending school in Moorestown and entering grades 1-4 in the fall. All games are held at Wesley Bishop on Sundays, against other in town teams.

The program is designed to help the girls improve their stick skills and is in addition to the regular Sunday Program. Teams will not be formed for this program. Girls should report on the first scheduled Wednesday (September 5th) ready to play. If you have registered for Limited Travel program, you do NOT need to register for the clinic.

SCHOOL'S OFF - REC'S ON;  November 8 - BOWLING


Throughout the school year there are a number of days in which school is closed.  School's Off - Rec's On provides a fun day of activities to keep children active!!  On September 19th and November 8th, we will take the participants bowling in Pinsetters where they can choose a lunch of pizza, hot dog, hamburger, grilled cheese or chicken tenders.  They will return for activities on the Rec Center's 3rd floor such as ping pong and air hockey as well as in the gym for basketball and floor hockey.

Throughout the school year there are a number of days in which school is closed.  On November 9, students will prepare pasta dough from scratch using semolina flour. They will turn pasta dough into noodles and ravioli, filling the ravioli with different garden fresh ingredients.  Food prepared at home will be available to take home and enjoy afterwards.  Pantry items have been generously donated by Wegmans.
